Description

This Heritage Skills day is aimed at industry professionals looking to try their hand at traditional skills that have been used on the restoration of New Bolsover Model Village.

The hands on workshops will give participants an understanding of:

  • Traditional Roofing Skills and Leadwork
  • Lime Pointing and Black Mortar
  • Heritage Joinery Skills
  • Sustainable Refurbishment of Listed Buildings and Hard Hat Tour

The event will also provide an insight into the community engagement activities undertaken on the project as part of the HLF Activity Plan.

Intinerary:

09:30-10:00
Start of the day, arrival with tea/coffee and biscuits

10:00-10:30
An introduction to the Model Village covering the background and historic context of the model village, the architectural challenges/design ethos and the works and construction delivery challenges.

10:30-12:30
Participate in the heritage skills workshops*

12.30-13:30
Lunch

13:30-15:30
Participate in the heritage skills workshops*

*Skills workshops are taken in 4 groups as above, timings of which will depend on which group you are assigned to.
